If you coat the ends with a little glue (I use craft glue, but if you have elmers in the house that would work too.) I just swear a bit on a toothpick or piece of paper and run the ends through it and remove any excess if need be. Back when I did bows a lot I always kept a glue stick with my ribbon. A little bit does the trick since it adds a slight seal to the fibers. Some swear by searing the ends - but I'm pretty afraid of fire so I've never attempted that one.
