If I understand it right there are two ways that yorkies are blonde. One is a gene that causes dilution of the saddle in which over the first year or two the saddle lightens to a blonde color, and then there is a gene in which the puppy is born golden, or blonde. I think that the color is pretty.

I know of at least one line that was known to thow golds, but in her case, most of the puppies were very small and didn't survive. She said that everytime she tried to save a gold pup it just broke her heart. So I don't know if any one ever got a gold pup from her but that there were probably quite a few gold carriers out there.
