I know when I went to buy a Yorkie, personality and size were the two most important factors for me. I don't want to offend anyone, but personally I think the whole dog showing thing is kind of silly. If people want to show their animals and breed according to some committee's recognized standards, then good for them...but pushing their ideas on every other person who owns dogs is wrong.

Since Yorkies are the #2 most sought after breed for people to own as pets, I think they are way overpriced. My girl isn't even anywhere near show standard and I paid a hefty price for her. That being said, I have *SEEN* "show quality" dogs advertised here and elsewhere and they are way more than even I paid.

I can't imagine why certain breeders feel it is their place to tell other breeders how they should/can breed. People come in many colors, with many preferences and likes/dislikes. Why should anyone look down upon someone who prefers to have a Parti as opposed to a traditional Yorkie? It's not your dog and it's certainly not hurting the "integrity" of your animal, so this judgment to me, seems really ridiculous.

I wouldn't in a million years look at a Parti and say "that dog has a defect!". So superficial and ridiculous. When I look at a lot of the lingo used to defend this mindset, it reminds me of human racial purifying, which is equally as ridiculous. It's a huge slap in the face to anyone who doesn't have a dog fitting your little standard. Neuter them all and only the select few are allowed to breed because some people got together and decided what a perfect Yorkie is? Oh man....
Good points!

I do feel breeding for good health should be the most important thing. If the puppies are healthy, wanted, and loved...HOORAY!!! Parti's/Biewers are beautiful and make outstanding pets just as the traditional Yorkie. Some people want the traditional and others (like me) want the non-traditional. They both are from the exact same ancestors that made the Yorkshire Terrier, with it's long silky coat...period!
