Eddie's going in for surgery tomorrow on his left-rear leg. Vet believes he tore his cranial cruciate ligament and also suffered meniscus damage.

It's been a bizarre couple months for him. Initially, he came up limping on his right-rear leg after an awkward fall off the couch. One vet called for surgery; a specialist called for inactivity and meds. That leg improved, and he stopped limping.

But then, almost two weeks ago, he took off running when he wasn't supposed to and came up limping on his left-rear leg. Vet tried same treatment on that, but there's been no improvement.

I'm seeing one of the best, if not the best, surgeons in the state, so I'm confident he'll return to full use of his leg. Maybe not agility -- though vet didn't rule it out -- but he'll once again be able to run and play with his little sister.

So wish us luck. Not sure when I'll have news. I bring him in at 7 a.m. tomorrow, but he'll need X-rays, etc., before the surgery begins. Vet thinks I'll be able to pick him up around 4 or 5.
