First, if she is growling when someone approaches you and she is on her lap you need to put her immediately onto the floor. Do not allow this behavior or it will increase.
She needs to be loved and nurtured until she feels secure in her new home. If you post more information I am sure you will get more feedback. A rescue can be a very rewarding experience.
