Yorkies don't shed, so they don't really get winter coats. Look around at some of the photos on here and if you see a pup with a cut you like, just send them a private message and ask about it. Most of us would be more than willing to help.
I keep mine in short coats because it's just easier for me to care for with my busy life. It's really a personal choice. There is a section here called "Grooming Talk" that has some great information as well.
