I went through the same thing. It got so bad that I was about 30,000 posts behind. I finally changed internet servers. Hated to start over, but I was missing too much on YT. When I was on my old server, I did open an email account with Yahoo. The YT messages came through there, but it wasn't very handy for me. You might try opening an email account there. Make sure you change your settings with YT.
