Sage will be just fine - you're doing the right thing by having her spayed. I was scared to spay Rio because she's only 2.6 lbs, but I knew it had to be done. So 2 days ago Rio was spayed and had 4 baby teeth pulled out. She was VERY groggy when we brought her home that evening. She slept for the first couple of hours and was shaking at first. I called the vet and they said that she is most likely still metabolizing the anesthesia and to just make sure she was warm so I turned the heater up and put a blanket on her. About 4 hours after she was home, she managed to eat a small meal (softened kibble) that I hand fed her. She did go poo and pee outside before we went to bed for the night. I gave her a pain pill before bedtime.
The next morning she was still a little weak but MUCH better than the night before. By the evening, she was running around and I was soooo worried about her jumping on and off the couch but she didn't seem to be in pain. Some people report odd potty habits after spay surgery but we've been lucky - Rio continues to potty outside like she always has.
Soft hug to Sage - get well soon! |
