I think it is really not necessary, but that is just me. Maybe like 1-2 days a week would be good, but again its not necessary. I think as long as you come home and give them time they are fine.
When Peanut was a pup he was in his crate during the hours I worked. Till he was potty trained then he had free range of the the living room/dining room and kitchen. I have a day care for Peanut, but he only goes to that every once in a while, maybe if I am not going to be home all day and night.. or just randomly. I like the idea of taking them and getting them use to other dogs, and socialized, but also that is the "Owners" responsibilty to take them out and do things with them and not just stick them in a day care everyday. I dont think they "learn" any bad habits. But it is up to you to correct that if they do. I feel horrible when Peanut is home alone, but I know that he will just hang out and sleep. Thats when it is important to come home and give them their special time, walks, playtime... etc. So I think 5 days a week is a little too much, maybe like once or twice a week would be fine.
