You will need a slicker brush for mats. Make sure you don't touch the skin. Just work with a little hair at a time keeping your fingers under the hair that you are brushing. When all the mats are out, use some Petsilk to work into the hair where the mats were, then put about a dime size in your palm, rub palms together and then down the rest of the coat. This product is wonderful for keeping the coat from matting. I buy the 11.6 oz. bottles.
