My neighbor is buying a Yorkie for her sister for Christmas. The breeder plans on letting the puppy go at 8 weeks.

I told my neighbor this is too soon. The puppy will be alone all day, and he will be missing out on socialization from his mom and siblings.

Everything I have read and heard say they shouldn't leave before 10 weeks.

Can someone offer some advice to give her? She passed on my comments to the breeder, and now the breeder is offended! I didn't say anything rude. I just said that 8 weeks was too young, and I understand that she is in the business, but that the puppy's welfare should come first. ( I would hope that this is the reason most people are in the business, but I realize that is not the case )

The breeder said I don't know her and have no right to judge her, and that she would not let the baby go unless he was ready. Hmmmm. I don't agree.
