It never hurts to take them in for a well visit. You can write down all your questions and make sure that your vet is a familiar with small dogs and very importantly, that you are comfortable with him/her. A lot of your care for you little on will depend on your relationship with the vet as well, if you are comfortable with their recommendations and feel that they are a good fit for you and your little one.

Don't worry about being a first time dog owner, I was when Hot Rod came into our lives.
