My belief is that dogs are carnivores, based on their digestive system and their dentition. While they
can eat fruit/veg, their systems and enzymes etc aren't designed to digest them easily.
I also believe that many wolves eat the
stomachs (the meat) themselves and seem *more* interested in the
stomachs - thus, we'll often hear of the prey's stomach's "
contents" being strewn AROUND the kill site, not all of the contents actually eaten - and this makes sense. In the meantime, while the wolf was
eating the stomach "meat" some of the stomach's contents was also consumed - so then some camps automatically believe the wolf is suddenly not a carnivore. All I think it means is that the wolf/dog may not be an *obligate* carnivore (like, say, the cat) - where its sole nutrition should really be nothing but meat.
That's my take on it. I feel *very* strongly that dogs are not omnivores at all. The are carnivores.
