Interior designer is different than an interior decorator. I think you are talking about an interior designer. You need a degree for that. It's almost like an architect, but you focus on the inside. You have to think about walls, lighting, electricity, pipes, etc. Interior decorator is someone you hire to pick out color schemes for curtains, furniture, rearrange stuff.
