To answer your questions, I don't see a problem with refrigerating new/used bully sticks. I believe AMD/WestbrookDog recommends refrigerating bully sticks to keep them fresh longer. That being said, I do not refrigerate Meg's new/used bully sticks. She usually has about 3-5 different bullies floating around the house at any given point in time. When one gets grungy-looking or has hair, etc attached to it, I take scissors and cut that part off. I also cut off any sharp edges or pieces that "shred" off and could be potential choking hazards. When they get chewed down to 2" or so, I throw them away or give them to the neighbor's dog (he loves the "ends").

So --- I'm sure it doesn't hurt to refrigerate, but it's prob not necessary. Also, I don't think I'd wrap a "soggy" bully stick in a paper towel. I think the paper towel would stick to the bully once it had dried. I'd put it in a plastic baggie if you def want to refrigerate them.

As for rinsing, it's probably fine, but I'd be sure to dry it off with a paper towel before you put it in the baggie.

I do'nt have any experience with Merrick bullies, but I can say that AMD/WestbrookDog's bullies are AMAZING! Meg loves them and I always have a supply ready for her. When she is acting crazy at night and isn't ready to sleep, I give her a bully in bed and she chews until she falls asleep (instead of trying to get mommy and daddy to play with her). Thank God for bully sticks!
