When I was doing breed research for yorkies I did read this quite a few times. I don't know for sure if this is even true but I only assume it is since quite a few places claim it. As far as all dogs I don't know, though. I was only researching yorkies. It has the potential to make them sick.
Similar to dairy products, they say dogs and cats are actually prone to be lactose intolerant but that doesn't mean if you feed your dog or cat milk (a lot of people actually do that apparently) that it will be sick.
Someone with more experience would have to put a truth to these myths, though.
