My little guy does that. When he is outside running up & down the fence line chasing the dogs on the other side, he pants alot! And then he'll start coughing a little. I think its just cause they get all excited & then lose their breath! I don't think its much to worry about unless they are coughing all the time and not just when they've been running around.
