I understand being nervous about meeting your "potential" new family member but as far as guilt...
I think your Westie would be honored that you love and miss it so much that you feel empty and alone without it. (Sorry, I keep saying "it" but I don't know the sex.) Instead, think of it as a tribute to your Westie...its death caused such a void in your heart that you're getting another to fill the void. Your Westie would understand that better than anyone and would want you to feel the unconditional love of a pet again.
