Great Question:

1st... I'm not considered a newbie at showing I've been showing now for 6 years but as far as breeding I'm still considered a newbie because I don't breed much therefore you don't see me commenting much in the breeding section. I do know what goes into breeding and what needs to be done. I give all the credit to my dogs breeders as they are the experts not me with "their" lines. They are not mine. To have your own lines you have to be able to have at least 5 generations in my opinion of what you call your lines to able to claim you have lines per sa.
I know what goes into breeding, what needs to be done ect...I just don't do much of it as I've said "MANY" times I prefer the show ring to the whelping box. I know when someone isn't breeding to the standard and when they are. When I do breed which is "not very often" but when it happens it's carefully planned and made sure that all the necessary things are in place as the quality of the stud, the quality of the bitch, the health testing the evaluations, whether it compliments what I have at home ect....
I have 4 champions but only one is from my breeding. I am very selective as to what I want and what is of quality that goes into the ring. When I do breed both male and female will be championed because if they aren't worthy of being championed they aren't worthy of being bred. I have started over in my breeding program due to not having what I feel is up to standard among a couple of other things. So, yes you could call me a newbie to breeding as I just don't do it very often and don't care for the breeding aspect of it but I am knowledgeable in the breeding aspect of it but I just don't breed that much. Again, when I do breed it's to better the breed and for the show ring for myself and not to just supply pets for the pet population.
