This is too true. I make custom costumes (for people). I double on the cost of materials (that's it), and I figure the time I work is for free (sometimes upwards of 2 weeks). I charge enough for the costumes already, if I took in time as a factor they would be totally unaffordable, even at less than min wage.

When you're an artisan, and you don't have a lot of orders, you work for free for appreciation of your craft, not for the money.
