It really scared me the first time Nikko jumped from the back of the couch straight onto the floor, but it didn't seem to phase him. Now that he's gotten a little older (a bit over a year), he seems to have enough patience most of the time to take the easier route down the front of the couch then circle around to the back once on the ground.

The tin foil is an amazing idea though - I wish I'd thought of or heard about that back when Nikko first started jumping up onto dangerous-ish places I didn't want him to be! I wonder if the tin foil would work at all on hard surfaces too, like coffee tables? Maybe if we laid a towel down in between the surface and the foil? Knowing Nikko though, he'd probably just think the foil was a toy... He puts everything in his mouth, though thankfully these days he usually spits out most things that should be considered inedible.
