Nikko is a little over a year old, and he just started chewing carpet about a month ago. His favorite spots are where the carpet meets the tile, but he sometimes picks small holes in the middle of the carpet.

After we noticed this problem starting, we started trying to head it off from as many angles as we could, because I know that the more carpet chewing becomes a habit, the harder it is to break. Here's what we did, and it has drastically cut back on his carpet chewing - it's practically non-existent again now a few weeks later:

1. Bitter apple spray immediately when we saw him chewing
2. Crushed spicy-ish red pepper sprinkled on the favorite chew spots (the kind of stuff that Pizza Hut offers to sprinkle on pizza).
3. Blankets or sheets over some of the tile to carpet transition areas
4. More walks (it's hard to chew when you're exhausted and asleep!)
5. More bully sticks per week
6. We actually also found some clay roof tiles to put over his #1 favorite chewing spot, so there's no WAY he could possibly chew there again. They're not beautiful, but they're prettier than chewed up carpet, and we hope they're temporary (a few more weeks?).

Hope that helps a little!
