LOL, this is exactly what we do with Nikko when he starts barking at something outside. I walk out there with him, squat down beside him and look off onto the horizon as if I too recognize the invisible potential aggressor, and then look over at him and say something kind of condescending like, "Oh yeah, that's great you saw that one. I'm going to take care of it, so you can relax now. Thanks again for letting me know." Then I stand up and confidently walk back into the house. He usually follows and I work on distracting him with a toy for a few minutes until he's forgotten about the "danger."
