I was thinking about a cherry blossom tree too, they are so beautiful here in Japan and the festival here for them is amazing. I also like koi, and the new trend I see that is really awesome is the cartoon swallows on the collar bone, thats hot LoL I just have to find the right idea for my quarter sleeve.. I dont want to be looking to cover up work a year after I get it yah know?
You know what sucked for me when I did it... I had just watched a documentary of a tribe somewhere in Africa the week before. Well they worship the crocodile (or alligator, not sure which one). The rite of passage for young men there is to sit in a freezing pond all night, then the next day one of the head guys uses a piece of sharp rock and cuts into them in the design of the crocodile bumps all over their body. So when they heal they have croc bumps on them. That was ALL I could think about while I was getting tattooed! Made it hurt all the more.
