Vets can only make an educated guess as to which antibiotics will work. A biopsy will tell them exactly what is causing the problem in your dog, so they will be able to put him on the best antibiotic that this organism is sensitive to, if he's not already on it. So, yes, that is the best thing to do at this point. He will get well quicker, and there is no question as to if he is on the right drugs or not, and can possibly save you money in the long run.
