I think most puppies go through this stage. I just told Keira "No bite" firmly, pulled my hands away, and stopped playing with her for a minute or so. I try to avoid playing with her with my hands, toys only. And no tug of war. Some puppies are cool with doing these things but a lot of them just want to nibble at fingers when you do it.
She figured out what "No bite" meant pretty quickly and it hasn't been an issue. She's been really good with kids, but I think it really helped that she had some good experiences with kids that have dogs. They knew to pet her gently and play nicely so she thinks kids are great. Just someone else to give her attention and belly scratches. |
