I think it depends on your situation. If you have a busy household (like mine) with people and kids running around you may want to get a bigger one. There is a big difference between 3 and 6 pounds if they are accidentally dropped or stepped on. If you have less craziness or are going to be able to watch them like a hawk then a little one would be fine. Personally I love the little ones but chose to get a bigger one for my own peace of mind.
If you are going to see some this weekend I get the feeling you will have one picked out before you leave and it won't matter. They are irresistible!
