I think if you are planning on growing out the hair on the longer side, please hold off cutting it! Once it gets long enough it will lay down flat. I used to trim Uni's hairs at the inner corners of the eyes. But once it started to grow out a bit, it was really scary to try trimming off those hairs, all the while trying not to poke her eye out, and not get any of the hairs in her eyeballs! Sorry I don't have a good closeup pic of her eyeballs.
