My story with Barley is exactly the same as you r's with your yorkiepoo's. Barley gets very scarred when someone yells. In my house he's the sweetest dog to other dogs, but once on a walk or at the petstores he's a devil. I think it's fear and that they want to protect you from any threat. Barley jumped onto a german shepard's head the very first walk I ever took him on. I just watched a wonderful episode of It's Me or the Dog. Victoria said to walk the dog and as soon as it sees another dog, to stop walking, stand in front of the dog so that it blocks their view of the other dog, and feed it a treat until the other dog passes. She didn't have any advise for walking past a dog that was barking from behind a fenced yard, wonder what she'd do with that one. She did do the turn and walk the other way at first. It's really a hard thing to deal with when you didn't raise the dog so you just have to guess what happened in her past life that caused him to be so fearful. Take your time with her and you may consider a personal trainer, but DON'T just take her to a doggy daycare. We had a trainer recommend that to us for our doberman and he was attacked by the other dogs and came home with a huge wound on his side. Good luck and welcome to YT!!!
