Just like with humans, you don't need to have your Yorkie throw up something that might/would cause even more damage coming up. In that case you need to get to the emergency vet asap for a stomach pump or whatever they could do to counteract the problem.
In this case, mine had ingested calcium tablets (Caltrate chewable) and since I could give the vet the time frame of the ingestion, she suggested I induce vomiting with the tablespoon of hydrogen peroxide since Taffy is 7 pounds.
I shared the experience in case it should ever help someone but didn't stop to think (until just now) that someone might use this when they should be getting to the vet instead. |
