I'm actually OK with the color, but I don't go shopping looking for pink. I go looking for something that's going to keep them warm and dry. If it's pink, I'll get it. But as it's turned out, most of what I've run across hasn't been pink.
I definitely worry too much about what other people think of my little dogs, but a big part of it is society. I think the majority think that little dogs aren't dogs. They see Paris Hilton carrying hers around in her purse and think everyone gets them as an accessory. I actually had a woman walk by me in Petco last week and sniff "That's not a dog," as I was walking Jillie. I'm able to laugh that off because I know better, she doesn't.
I fell so head over heels in love with Eddie that I felt I owned it to him to show people what amazing dogs Yorkies are. Dressing them up in anything but warm attire doesn't bring the results I'm looking for.
That's not to say I don't appreciate a well-groomed and well-dressed Yorkie. I love all the YT Yorkies, but then again, I'm a MWOAWSFDALI. |
Hey, even as a girl, I have issues with people "judging" me for the Yorkie thing! If I'm out without Jackson and the "what kind of dog do you have?" convo pops up and I say "Yorkie" immediately people assume a tiny 3lb frilly dog that I carry in my purse. When I explain to them that he's nearly 13lbs and a rugged outdoor dog, everyone is SHOCKED! lol. Same thing with when they meet him, they always end up like "Wow, he's a really cool dog!" And when we go to the dog park and he's one of the fastest ones there, it's almost like everyone is shocked that
*gasp* a Yorkie actually RUNS! lol. Stereotypes suck but whatever, I get over it 'cause like you said, they don't know any better.
