Here is my post in your other thread about pneumonia: what are the symptoms?
Pneumonia usually begins with symptoms similar to a cold, like a runny nose, fever and lethargy, and these symptoms would occur all the time, not just at night. Sometimes putting them in the bathroom just after someone has showered can benefit them, as the steam can help open their sinuses, and improve their breathing. Might be worth trying this with your pup.
I did use Vicks on my dog, but not until I was sure he was dying, and the vet couldn't do anything else for him. He did have pneumonia and had so much mucous in his nose, he couldn't breathe. He wouldn't eat and was too weak to stand on his own. I only used an extremely small amount on my finger and put it across his nostrils. I believe it saved his life, I think he would have died if I hadn't done that. I used it a few times a day for maybe 2-3 days. The antibiotics began working and he started doing better, so I discontinued using Vicks because I thought it might be toxic. We used it on horses at the racetrack on the day of their race but never at any other time.
