I'm going to throw out this food for thought.
If someone is at work more than 12 hours a day, how much time do they really have for a pup?
I'm not trying to be mean, but pups need a lot of time and attention to develop into good family members. If no one is there until 7pm at night that doesn't leave much quality time for puppy training, loving, exercise and so forth. I would seriously consider a rescue or retired older dog for this kind of home situation.

Sorry I thought it was till 7:30 at night not 6pm. Dyslexic moment there. It is still a long time to leave a pup but not as bad.
