I personally think that is admirable that you don't have puppies ready to go at all times. In lieu of evidence to the contrary I would presume that you are carefully selecting male / female mating choices, assessing your own brood bitches stud for their own qualities/health and other factors that go into selecting the right mate.

For those reputable breeders whose passion,desire and interest is to first perserve, then improve their breed, all thumbs up to you. It is a daunting goal.
