Yeah, it's really scary when the dog gets out. This happened to me last week. I am watching my neighbor's dog, who is big, and pushed open the door and ran down the hallway. Archie was right behind her. I'm screaming for them to come back...no use, they stopped at the elevator, saw it wasn't coming and kept going. I screamed to my doorman...CLOSE THE DOOR! He just ignored me...and the dogs ran out the front door, across the big lawn, and out the side and across the street. I'm running after them and screaming. Even if I caught them, how could I carry them back in?! My neighbors who are on vacation will kill me. I'll kill myself if I lose Archie. ARGH! Then...they ran to the park, and peed. They both walked back to the side door of the apartment building like nothing ever happened. Moral of the story...dogs always come back home. It's a very scary thing because they think you want to chase them around and play and you think they will run away, but the reality is that they don't go too far from home.
