I usually dont post on forums, I am more of the lurker and learn type. But your post has me in tears. God bless you... Im so sorry for your loss.

I wanted to maybe give you some ideas that I know I never considered until it happened to my girlfriends pom.

Does anyone in your home need/use RX drugs for pain or anxiety/nerves? Dont answer! lol Just think about it. I'd never expect you to answer that.

Here's why I ask:

These medications are usually extremely strong and seem to always be extremely small. The smaller the Narcotic, the higher the dosage, generally.

My girlfriend's dog passed very much like you described. To a 'T' really. Her dog had heart failure and died... but not of natural causes. Instead, her mother admitted that she dropped a Oxycotin 30 tablet previously in the day and could never find it.

Shes the type that cant let things go. She gets her answers. She begged the Vet to please send blood to a lab to test for narcotics.

Sure enough, narcotics present!

Her 2 year old lil pom did, indeed, suffer a heart attack. But ONLY as a result of finding and ingesting the pill dropped earlier that day. A powerful narcotic.

Im not implying drug abuse and surely not passing judgment. People need narcotics in some cases. Nothing like that was going on. I, myself, have an RX for narcotics so please know I am passing no judgment.

I just want to put this out there as a reminder to us all... remember one dropped pill is lethal. What I do is request everyone on medication here always open and ingest their medicine over the sink. Risk eliminated.

I suspect many pets that 'drop dead' do so as a result of this very issue. This experience is why I have done so much research about this topic.

Also, Im in no way saying this is what happened to your baby... nooo. I am just giving you a 'something to think about' because I know NOT knowing is sometimes the hardest part.

I think the whole issue of RX drugs and our pups needs to be touched on in a huge way. Im not one to start a thread but if I were... it would be about that and I could share all of my research on the subject.

I am so sorry for your loss and I hope you get the answers you seek. I cant even imagine your pain. God bless you. Know someone cares! (by the looks of it, many do!) Let me know if I can help you in any way.
