I had a Shih-Tzu that had 2 c-sections. She got spayed on the last one. The main thing that I found is that you want to keep the puppies nails cut as this will irrate the mother's stiches. You will also want to take a dry hand towel and rub her with it as the milk in the teats makes the belly sweat right where the stitches are. She nursed her puppies just fine. She adapted and accepted her babies just fine, but it did take a while for the medication to wear off. Within 24 hours you couldn't even tell she had one done unless you went and looked at the incision.
