There is so much to learn about showing yorkies. I used to show St. Bernards and there is no comparison. Yorkies are one of the hardest breeds to show. My advise to you, since you are young and wanting to do this the right way, is for you to try to find a mentor in your area. There are quite a few show breeders in Il. Here is the link to the YTCA website:

There are some shows coming up this year in Belleville, Il. and Rosemont, Il. Perhaps you could attend and met some fellow exhibitors that could help you.
There are show breeders out there that would be willing to sell you a show dog but to get a really nice show dog you need to be willing to sign a show contract and you need to get a older pup. I recommend one that is 6 months or older. You need to really familiarize yourself with the yorkie standard and do lots of research before you make your decision. There are all different types of 'looks' when it comes to yorkies, even though they all are yorkies and conform to the standard, there are certain qualities that some people prefer.
One of my favorite breeders that seems to consistently produce quality dogs is Durrer Yorkies owned by Betty Ann Durrer in Canada. Of course there are many many more excellent breeders out there so you really should check out a lot of them. Also be ready to pay around $3,000 for a quality show dog.
Best of luck in your search.
