I keep them in a 4x4 x pen., with food, water and a pee pad for mom, during the night, and a separate bed for mom if she needs to get away from the babies to cool down. The moms get very warm when nursing and sometimes need to get away.

At about 3 weeks old, I put them in a bed that they can get out of. They learn fairly quickly to go out of the bed and to the pee pad to pee/poop. This makes for easier training because they learn from day one to go on the pee pad.

They are not allowed around the other dogs until they are 6 weeks old.
