Is the puppy warm now?

If not, you can gradually warm it with a heating pad with a towel or blanket wrapped around it. It must be done gradually though, and they can become dehydrated if they get too warm. Once you know the puppy is warm, try nursing again.

I would set my alarm and check the puppy every 2 hours to make sure it is warm and to let it latch on to one of the back nipples. Take those little fatties off the back nipples and protect the space for this little puppy or remove the other puppies to a warming box until you are sure this tiny one has eaten as much as it can.

Is the puppy's tummy full and round, or is it flat and skinny?
