When your vet said don't feed human foods to your dog, he probably meant, processed human foods. My vet suggested I give Joey green beans and I use the frozen variety since they have no salt and just warm them a little, they are blanched when they are frozen so through cooking isn't necessary. Processed human foods, are things like lunchmeat, hot dogs, cookies and chips, while these aren't very good for humans they can be deadly for a dog. Also, you want to avoid high fat human foods such as fried chicken, hamburger and, bacon. So it's mainly human foods that have a high fat content or high salt content that you want to avoid. Lots of us give vegetables as treats or sprinkled on food.
