blood work and xrays befor biopsy; my dog had 2 similar episodes vomiting pure blood; ended up twice in ER; they weren't sure what it is; but said it's gastritis due to something she ate; i gave her a new treat a day earlier; so maybe that caused it; now i dont give her any dog treats; just apples carrots and bananas; ask the vet to do blood work , xray or ultrasound first before biobsy; she might recover only if they give her IV; after the hospital u can feed her boiled chicken with rice or gerber baby food; also i recommend the honest kitchen food for sensitive stomach dogs. best of luck
