Just get a portable home sewing machine, they do lots of different stitches, and they are really easy to thread. I have two, but I keep going back to my trusty Brother that I got a costco years ago for less than $200. Don't really use my singer anymore.
industry machines are attached to big ugly green tables and used cost upwards of $500. Oh and they only do one stitch.
