Swine Flu I saw on the news today that a 9-year-old boy died last week of the swine flu at my son's elementary school. My heart goes out to the family.
I'm very upset with the school because yesterday they called me to come pick up my son who came down with fever while at school. I called them this morning to say he wasn't coming today. The lady who took my call questioned me about the fever and symptoms and said "okay thanks-bye". She nor the nurse mentioned a single word to me that there was a child who died last week from swine flu.
I tried calling my son's doctor six times, but never did get anyone on the phone. Luckily my child hasnt had severe symptoms so far and if he's not any better tomorrow I'm taking him in to get tested.
I'm upset that I had to find out, along with all of the other parents, from television that there was swine flu within the school. Had I known, I would have taken him straight to the doctor. There is something about this area that people are dying with no underlying medical issues.
They should just close the schools until parents can vaccinate their children. (our city ran out of vaccines for H1N1 so we are SOL on that one) |
