Personally I think you should stick to what your doing for a while. 14 weeks is still young to leave in a crate for so long. I think he will most likely soil in the crate, ruining any training you have already begun. At night, like us, puppies can hold it longer because they are sleeping.
Don't rush anything, do what works for you and your puppy!
