I put my Kodi (14 weeks old)in a crate at night and he goes willingly and likes it and always has from day one without any crying at all, I am lucky that way! He remains in there about six hours (from 10pm until 4:30am) if he lets me know earlier I get up with him but he's like an alarm clock @ 4:30 almost all days.
I work fulltime and leave Kodi in a baby gate playpen for 8.5 -9 hours with a pee pad which he faithfully goes on, his bed and toys. My brother, also a yorkie owner (2yrs old) says I should start leaveing him in his crate while I am at work as part of crate training. I would like to crate him all day as it is useful in potty training. I can already see this, the way he goes to the door right out of the crate in the morning, but I think he is still too little to crate all day. I am afraid he will pee and poop in there and that will not be good as he will then start doing the same thing during the night.
So, opinions? Is he too young for 9 hours? Should any yorkie be crated for 9 hours?
