I wish you the best in making your decision. That will be a hard one to make.
I clench/grind my teeth at night and I'm supposed to sleep in a mouth guard. I now have the smallest one my dentist can make for me and I still can't stand it. I put it in only on the really bad days. If there was the possibility it would keep me from a drastic surgery, I'd be a lot more positive about wearing it.
I'll be curious to see what they recommend when you go back!
