I tried several different methods when I was training Sasha and the bell on the door definitely worked the best. I do have to say, it took her about a year, maybe a little more before she was 100% potty trained. She now has free run of the house and knows to run to the door and ring the bell. Patience is a key thing as well as tons of praise. It can get frustrating at times, but just keep positive. One day, they will just "get it".
