Unfortunately there have been many small dogs taken by large birds, coyotes, wolves, and other prey animals, so the best thing you can do is to be outdoors with them and if walking in a wildlife area, make sure you have your little ones on a leash. There was one taken a few years back while walking with the human, but was 40 or 50 feet in front and was grabbed by a coyote. The man was heartbroken because he could not catch the coyote and his precious little pal was gone. We have to remember that yorkies, chi's, and other toy dogs are not much bigger than the rabbits that are hunted all the time by prey animals. |
