So sorry to hear about Toby. Piper was diagnosed with Legg Perthes last December. She had her surgery Dec. 29 with no problems. Within 3 months she was back 100%. As for getting a new puppy I think I would wait until Toby is healed. The first few weeks Piper was in pain, walked on 3 legs and wasn't her playful self. You are going to have to give Toby that extra attention while he is recovering from major surgery. Plus most dogs get a little jealous when a new puppy is brought into a family. I think you have to get Toby healthy first and then afterwards get your new puppy. Remember a new puppy takes a lot of work and your time.
